Newgarden

There's a Sunday Styles piece on Mark Newgarden and his new book of "existential slapstick", We All Die Alone, which you should read if you are wondering about the odd, velvet-covered book that we have at the shop...

Not much else to report, I am at the shop making jewelry and warming my toes with the space heater.

Accessories

I get boxes all day long. Even the USPS guy remarks, where do you put it all? Here's what came in the latest batch..

- striped silk sashes and obi belts by She Complete, very light and easy to wear
- glazed fabric totes and hobos from Crystalyn Kae, more supple than your average vinyl and with great topstitching detail
- a great halter dress and grassiest green belted short trench from OK47

The camera is officially broken so no pictures today, sorry!

Green

It's Saint Patrick's Day, which I forgot until I was in the diamond district this morning. That is where they stage the parade officials and bagpipers and marching bands and men in kilts. I always forget and I always am up there on this holiday.

So, I have a scarf with a marginal amount of green in it around my neck. And I'm drinking Vitaminwater 'rescue' green tea. We do what we can...

New stuff: a visual diary called 'A Year in Japan' by Kate Williamson, some Jill Bliss stationery sets for fans of her Native Flowers journal, DIY Design it Yourself is back in stock, more knitting decks, a cute children's book by Paul and Ann Rand, new mini-journals to tide you over until Native Flowers is reprinted, and City Walks decks for Paris, Rome, London and San Francisco. If you or a friend are traveling to these cities, what a great thing to have! Each deck has 50 suggested walks, with map and places to stop along the way

Today's listening: Wilco 'Summerteeth', Yo La Tengo 'Electr-o-pura', Sleater-Kinney 'All Hands on the Bad One', Tarentel 'From Bone to Satellite', Underworld 'Beaucoup Fish'

Fernworks

Fans of Faryn Davis, rejoice! I just got in more resin pendants, plus a few very special necklaces with hand-painted scenes on wood, under resin. They are incredible works of art and there are just 5 of them. I want to take a picture but my camera seems to have died for good...you'll have to come and see for yourself for now!

Beehouse Teapot

The Beehouse Teapot featured on design*sponge on 3/16 is not yet on the website, but you can purchase it by calling the shop or emailing us, it is available in celadon (actually a bit bluer than what I think of as celadon) and a pretty dark purple. We are trying to get more products up but as with all good things, it takes time! Feel free to inquire anytime about items you have heard about, if you want images emailed to you, etc.

Today we have more earrings by i. ronni kappos. On the way are poster-hanging aluminum bars for your Hanna Werning posters or just a pretty sheet of gift wrap, lovely new jewelry from the UK, and cool glazed fabric totes and hobos with, yes, a cross-body strap - per request of just about everyone in the neighborhood. I am also starting to look at teas and chocolates and little growing things (!) for spring.

Ides

It's the ides of March, and an appropriately windy and portentous day. Here is what blew in recently:

Bubble Roome soaps - Fennel, Tangerine, Lavender/Oatmeal, Spearmint/Eucalyptus, and Calendula/Chamomile (as seen in this month's ShopEtc.)

Cards by Fabric in the UK, they are very slightly fuzzy...you'll just have to see for yourself

House of Spy clothing - a beautiful chocolate brown pintucked blouse and black linen pintucked capris, yes it's the Year of Pintucks

Astrosatchel - new designs in vinyl totes, some with great appliques and some with stitched foliage, very cool colors

Art books galore - Art Photography Now, The Music Library (graphic art and sound, with CD), Zak Smith, Cindy Sherman, Beautiful Losers, Art of the Japanese Postcard and New York Beautification Project by Ellen Harvey.
