Mi Spa

Just got a new beauty line to test out in the shop. It's called Mi and the products are handmade in California - rice is used in many formats (oil, mochi flour, etc) in each product and the scents are all Asian...coconut lemongrass, yuzu, lychee and sake. We have a yummy lip balm, a sugar mochi scrub, a gentle face soap with rice for exfoliation, and a shampoo bar which I am loving.

Lemon Twist of San Francisco sent a box with more skirts - I am actually wearing one of their skirts today. One has a fantastic oversized botanical print in blues and tan, Pippi is sporting this in the window display.

Sunday is when we'll have Kristen Aronsson's latest bag, the Plait. She was rocking this style at the 5th Ave fair in Brooklyn so if you missed it then, you'll have another chance very soon! The bag comes in a brownish pewter, a deep teal blue and a very pale grey - I know this will be my favorite.

Last book read: Tarzan and the Apes
Last dessert eaten: marscarpone semifreddo, lemon cake and espresso granita at Chikalicious

Sale Time

It's June and I want lots of visitors and so I'm having a big old sale at the shop. I have marked down ALL pillows up to 50% off, plus many of the bags, belts, clothing that seems too warm for summer, all sorts of things are marked down 25-50%. You just have to come by and take a peek.

Also - there is a sale of sorts on Gen Art Shop NYC tickets - 60% off the price you would pay at the door. Just buy them online with the discount code of 'designer' and then come by the Puck Building after work on June 14. Sometimes they provide gelato which sounds even better than the free drinks on a day like today.

NOTE TO S.F. PEOPLE: Gorgeous show at Edo salon in the Lower Haight, the opening is tonight (Friday night), I really want to be there but can't, please go for me!

Arrivals and Departures

Today was the last day of Lena Corwin's show at Rare Device. It was so wonderful to work with her and to look at her beautiful designs all month! The window is now bare and it is a shock, I feel quite naked now that the tree backdrop is gone. Incidentally, the temperature has gone up about 10-15 degrees since the start of the show and the afternoon sun is going to be quite a killer.

I'm going to keep some of the limited edition plates on hand, and the great vintage ties (hint hint Father's Day).

Fun things that came in the post today: a few new card designs by Hanna Werning, the coolest greeting cards around. A small shipment of the Buddha Machine, a mysterious little box that plays a small assortment of looped electronic music when you turn it on - it's rather magical, like something in a novel. Also, more keyaki (Japanese elm) tea cups and little sake cups, carved from a single block of wood. And, more Sugahara glassware, this time a hammered glass sake or very small old-fashioned cup.

The etched glass carafes are back in stock, as are the all glass teapots. Both are very lovely wedding-type presents. I'll try to get them on the site this week.

Finally, I am not sure if I mentioned it but I'll be at the Gen Art Shop NYC event on June 14. It's a fun shopping event with lots of accessories and clothing at sample sale prices. I'll be hawking my Spring jewelry line there, plus a bunch of fun one-offs, aka contenders for the Fall collection.

Press notes: Turk and Taylor is featured in this month's Gotham. Analogous Jewelry is in this week's Time Out NY. And we are due to make an appearance in a couple magazines next month as well...
